"Tu primera película debe servir para contar la historia que quieres contar. Si después de ésta tienes la suerte de entrar en esta cadena de montaje, te costará la vida poder volver a estar en disposición de contar lo que tú quieras contar".

Me costó todo 2012 conocer algo tan simple.
Porque intentar levantar tu historia bajo las condiciones de la industria cinematográfica está llena de conversaciones como: 
"Con esta actriz nos aseguraríamos tener más preventas en televisión".
"Esa actriz tiene 15 años más que el personaje y no es precisamente un portento de la interpretación".
"Pero vende. ¿Y qué importa más? ¿La rentabilidad o la historia? Y pasa de ingenuidades".

Entonces te rindes y buscas tu propia manera de levantar el proyecto. Estableces ciertas normas de estilo que permitan darle luz a la historia:
-Calidad interpretativa por encima de la técnica.
-Bajo presupuesto.
-Un equipo humano reducido y entregado.
-Trabajar el proyecto hasta el extremo.
-Rodar la película A CUALQUIER COSTA.

Y te das cuenta de que estás adentrándote en un género cinematográfico surgido hace algo así como una década y que ha dado pie a películas como "Quiet City", "Unmade Beds", "In search of a midnight kiss" y, en cierta medida, "Once".

"Every filmmaker should use a first film to tell the story they really want to tell. Because maybe, right after that one, they get into the industry and then it will take a lifetime to enjoy the pleasure of tell what they really want to tell".

I wasted 2012 trying to understand something so simple like that.
Trying to build your story up under industry conditions is usually related with conversations like this:
"With this actress we earn good contracts on tv pre-sales".
"But that actress is 15 years older than the character and is not a good actress BTW".
"But she'll give us money. What else cares? Money or the story? And don't be naive".

So you give up and search for your own way to make the project come true. You set some rules of style in order to make your movie:
-Performances over tecnical quality.
-Low Budget.
-A small and professional crew.
-Work till death.
-Shooting the movie AT ANY COST.

So you realize you're in a genre which was born a decade ago or so with movies like "Quiet City", "Unmade Beds", "In search of a midnight kiss" and, in some way "Once".
