FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE PIÉLAGOS / PIELAGOS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

Ya ha pasado casi una semana desde que volvimos del Festival Internacional de Piélagos, donde Encontrados en NYC competía en la sección oficial Puesta de Largo.

Y qué grandes días pasamos allí:
Desde lo increíblemente bien que nos trataron -Pedro García es un crack, Álvaro Oliva es la leche en polvo y Álvaro García es un director de festival como pocos- hasta estar en una tierra envidiable con mi hermano Tappy y mi niña, pasando por el reencuentro con mi niño Héctor -cada día que pasa más me alegro de habernos cruzado nene- y con la posibilidad de tener allí a mis padres que a cada segundo me recuerdan la suerte que tengo.

No ganamos ningún premio pero nos llevamos unos días brutales.

GRACIAS a esa maravillosa gente de ese maravilloso festival.

It's been almost a week since we came back from Pielagos International Film Festival where Met in NYC was selected in the Official Section Puesta de Largo.

And what a days we spent there:

They took care of us so good that we couldn't feel better. The whole countryside was breathtaking and being there with my brother Tappy, my girl and Hector -so happy for meeting you man- was unbelievable... and also I feel so lucky because of my parents.

We didn't win any award but those days we spent where amazing.

THANKS to the wonderful people behind the curtain of this great Film Festival.

EL SUEÑO CUMPLIDO / A DREAM COMES TRUE

Hace un par de semanas estaba rellenando un cuestionario para el visado de trabajo americano y la primera pregunta era: ¿cuál dirías que ha sido tu mayor éxito profesional?
La respuesta en aquel momento estaba clara: rodar nuestra primera película.

Pregunta contestada. Cuestionario enviado al abogado.

Entonces un día más tarde pasa ESTO. 

Encontrados en NYC está en la SECCIÓN OFICIAL del MANHATTAN FILM FESTIVAL...
Encontrados en NYC tendrá ESTRENO OFICIAL en NUEVA YORK...

Abrumado y sobrecogido... sin saber cómo manejar tantísima felicidad...
Felicidad no por el festival -que también-, festival porque comprendí que el sueño que toda mi vida había tenido tenía mucho que ver con el cine, y con la ciudad que tantas veces vi en una pantalla de pequeño...
...la ciudad donde viví el mejor año de mi vida...
...la ciudad donde rodamos "12:26 - 12:31" y "Second Round", los dos cortos que abrieron un camino...
...la ciudad que me cambió por completo -por muy manido/cursi que suene-.

Unos días antes el Festival de Brooklyn no seleccionó la película... quizá porque su sitio no era Brooklyn -mi casa física y un lugar que adoro para vivir-...

Rodar tu primera película en las calles de tu ciudad y poder estrenarla en un cine de tu ciudad, ese es el sueño hecho realidad.

No podré estar pero estoy tan cerca de volver a esas calles que cambiaré la sensación de estrenar la película allí por seguir descubriendo calles y esquinas que me quedaron por conocer.

Así que tuve que volver al cuestionario y responder a la pregunta: rodar nuestra primera película y poder estrenarla en Nueva York.

So I was filling a questionnaire for my VISA couple weeks ago and the first question said: What would you say are your biggest accomplishments in your field so far?
In that moment the answer was easy: to shoot our first feature film.

Question answered and sent to my lawyer.

And a day after, THIS.

Met in NYC has been selected at the OFFICIAL SELECTION at the MANHATTAN FILM FESTIVAL...
Met in NYC will have an OFFICIAL RELEASE in NEW YORK...

Overwhelmed. I don't know how handle this HUGE happiness...
And not only for the Film Festival -which is obvious- but also because I learnt in that very moment that the biggest dream in my like was so related to filmmaking as to the city where I felt that I had always lived in... 
...the city where I spent the best year of my life...
...the city where we shot "12:26 - 12:31" and "Second Round", two projects that opened the road...
...the city that changed my life...

A few days before, Brooklyn Film Festival didn't select us. Maybe its place was not there.

To shoot your first feature film at the streets of your city and to be able to release it there: this is a dream comes true.

I won't be able to be there but I'm working really hard in my VISA to go back ASAP and go on with my life there.

Met in NYC will be in its city

So I need to take the questionnaire back and answer the question again: to shoot our first feature film and to release in New York.
